About Misha-Joy Clark
Clinical Psychologist | Trauma-Informed Practitioner | Women’s Wellbeing Specialist
I’m Misha-Joy Clark, a Clinical Psychologist based in Tauranga, Aotearoa.
For over a decade, I’ve supported people to move through life’s challenges, burnout, anxiety, and the emotional exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long.
I work primarily with women who are high-achieving, high-functioning, and deeply caring — women who hold careers, households, and everyone else together – yet feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or quietly running on empty inside.
Through gentle yet effective therapy, I help clients slow down, reconnect to their bodies, and rediscover the version of themselves that feels grounded, safe, and whole.
My Approach
My work blends clinical psychology, neuroscience, and somatic healing.
At my core, I work from a psychodynamic framework, exploring the deeper roots of distress — the stories we learned early in life about who we need to be and what it costs to belong.
The therapeutic relationship itself is central to healing — a space of safety, attunement, and reflection where insight becomes transformation.
As I often say: We relate, therefore we are.
Professional Background
I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and hold a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Over the past ten years I’ve worked across public health, private practice, and ACC rehabilitation, including leadership roles as Co-Owner and Clinical Lead at Talking Cure Milton Road in Hawke’s Bay.
My primary orientation is psychodynamic and relational, underpinned by formal clinical training and empirically supported interventions. I practice in an integrative manner, drawing from approaches that acknowledge the interplay between cognitive, emotional, and physiological processes. This allows for work that is both analytically robust and attuned to lived experience.
